Employee Spotlight: Anton Sherar

What drew you to Sonic Minds specifically?
Coming from the freelancing and Video Games industry, I was looking for something different that combined all of my interests, then I saw a job opening for Sonic Minds. I applied, met Søren and Karsten, and they saw potential in me, which felt kind of awesome. Going in I had no expectations, I didn’t really know what it was, but I quickly figured out that it’s something I really like to do, because I get to do a lot of different things, while having a lot of responsibility. That gives me energy.

What are some of your hobbies?
Playing guitar, playing video games and basketball – oh and watching a lot of YouTube! Those are my current hobbies. I’m a guy who usually obsesses over one thing and then I move on to another thing, so I move in phases like that. Above everything else is listening to music. It’s my number one hobby. I do that while I do everything else. I think I listen to music maybe 8-12 hours a day.

What is something you want to learn this year?
I always want to get better at guitar. I started playing in 2020, during the lockdown period, and I feel like I’ve grown a lot considering the short timespan. So, I would like to be better at that and also get better at basketball, especially shooting the ball. Life is also something I would like to get better at generally. I am constantly learning and I really think personal growth is essential for a good life, because if you’re not growing, then what’s the point?

What’s the best advice you’ve been given?
Life is too short, so why not make the most of it? Or: It’s only when you stop having fun, that you turn old.

Anton Sherar Audio Consultant

How would you describe your profession?
It very much depends on what I tell people in terms of what I do, because people often ask me. Sometimes I say I’m a consultant, sometimes I say I’m a sound designer or musician. And sometimes I say I do audio branding. I basically do all of the above.

What are you most looking forward to work-wise?
Growing the team, I think. I’m very excited about getting new employees, like you [Esther]. Even though you guys [interns] are temporary, I don’t want you to be temporary. I enjoy people.

What is your greatest strength?
From what I’ve gathered from my previous workplaces and this one – it’s probably my mood. I am always happy and open, which makes me a good team player. I am also very efficient with my time. For example, I always run up the stairs two steps at a time. Fitting to that skill would be organizing, building systems and being neat in a way.
